On November 25, there was the 'ferry flight' from Toulouse to Dubai And today, two days later, Emirates officially unveiled its first Airbus A350-900.
In this article:
The entry of the A350 into the fleet, as we have written over and over again, marks the the beginning of a new era for Emirates: after years and years in which the fleet has consisted solely of Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s, today a new aircraft model joins; something, this, that has not happened since 2008, when the first Super Jumbo in EK colors entered service. The Dubai-based airline has ordered a total of 60 A350-900s. which, in the coming years, will join the 'fleet'.
Of course, those who expected some surprises in the setup were certainly disappointed: the 350 will be configured with the same cabins found in the rest of the fleet; no suite, no door in business, no new products. Once the restyling of the 777 is completed., therefore, Emirates passengers will be able to sleep soundly as they will find the same cabin layout: the downside is that, as mentioned, those who were hoping for some novelty will have to 'make do'. To get an idea of the layout present in the A350, just watch the video shot by Barbone in the new 777 business.
EK's 350 is configured with 3 classes of service: 32 seats in business class (with a 1-2-1 layout), 21 in premium economy e 259 seats in tourist class, for a total of 312 places. No first class, then: the 350 will lack it, while it will continue to be present in the A380s and 777s.
Specifically, business seats - called "S lounge seats", inspired by Mercedes' luxurious S-Class-they have a length of more than 111 cm and a width of 53 cm; each seat, then, is equipped with a 20-inch 4k screen, several USB ports, a wireless charging base and a minibar.
When will Emirates' A350 debut? The date to mark on the calendar is January 3, 2025, when the new gem will take off for Edinburgh. Then, on February 1, it will be the turn of Ahmedabad, Bahrain, Kuwait City and Mumbai; on March 1, it will enter service on routes to Colombo and Lyon; and finally, on March 15, it will also debut in Italy, in Bologna.
