Next December 9 and 13 will be two black days for Finnair and European skies. The pilots of the Finnish company have called a strike which is expected to have a very important impact: it is estimated that there will be over 30 thousand passengers involved.
In this article:
Finnair preemptively canceled about 300 flights, not only on Dec. 9 and 13 but also on Dec. 10, 11 and 14; The cancelled connections are both intercontinental and international. Specifically, on Dec. 9 and 13, flights AY1751, 1752, 1755 and 1756 to and from Milan-Malpensa and routes AY1761, 1762, 1763, 1764 to and from Rome-Fiumicino were canceled. The Full list of canceled flights can be found at of Finnair.
"It is disappointing that the Pilots' Association chose to strike rather than negotiate," commented Jaakko Schildt, Chief Operating Officer of Finnair - This unfortunately interrupts the travel plans of thousands of our customers during the pre-Christmas season. We are doing everything we can to serve our customers well even in this difficult situation and will offer alternative flights to as many customers as possible."
If you have a flight scheduled with Finnair on those very dates, our advice is not only to consult the company's website periodically to stay abreast of developments, but also to contact AY to understand what to do: according to EC Regulation No. 261 of 2004, we remind you, in case of delays or cancellations the carrier is obliged to re-route passengers and provide them with assistance.
