On November 13, 5 days after the flight, I was credited with the 4th segment on my card Eurobonus and I can therefore say. the first part of my hunt for a million miles Was successful.
In this article:
As I detailed in an article in recent days, I decided to do what thousands of FF are doing these weeks. world: Become a millionaire in SAS Scandinavian Airlines' loyalty program.
First 4 sections
To be picky about routes on the Eurobonus card I credited 5, but since they don't count flights, they count companies, I am then at 4 as predicted.
I unmarked SAS, Aeromexico, Delta and Virgin Atlantic., totaling just under 6,000 accumulated Eurobonus miles. The next qualifying activity will trigger the first prize of this challenge That is, what you get if you fly on at least 5 different vectors Skyteam, that is, a bonus of 15k miles.
The main difficulty
No lounge and boarding area at the bottom of the chart. Not having status means you cannot take advantage of benefits such as lounges, priority boarding, and peace of mind with carry-on luggage. Fortunately, there was a PP lounge in Guadalajara. and to JFK the Amex Centurion, so I did not miss it, but for the next stages having Skypriority corridors will be very important.
On the net I read about several users who manage to play the two-card game, which is to load on the card Eurobonus of which almost no one I have the status, also because no one, including myself, had thought of making the status match Eurobonus, and use Skyteam privileges by showing a card from another program. In this case it depends on how zealous the check-in or gate attendant is; if he or she has little desire to argue, it is easy to have it won.
I won't be able to become Silver Eurobonus (or maybe I will)
The first thing I realized is that I will not be able to get the Silver level in the SAS loyalty program because the required 10 segments must be flown with SAS and not with other Skyteam carriers, I admit that I have not studied the SAS frequent flyer rules also because This is not a mileage run, but a scavenger hunt. I don't care about Skyteam elite status, which I have today with both Air France KLM and ITA Airways, I only care about points.
The second way to status is to accumulate at least 20,000 points, in this case, however, all accumulations count i.e. those obtained with SAS flights as well as those with Skyteam carriers. In this case I think I could cross the finish line at the end of the challenge.
Zero euros spent at the hotel and airport
As I recounted I was already holding the ticket to fly from Helsinki to Los Angeles, so to Helsinki I would still have had to go and from the U.S. I would still have had to return. That being said, the 4 legs cost me about 950$, let's say I would have spent about the same money. Perhaps the only extra expense was the avios for the ticket from Los Angeles to Guadalajara.
I didn't spend anything on hotels, because I arrived in Los Angeles at 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, left for Mexico at 11:55 p.m., and landed at 5 a.m. on Friday. I left Guadalajara for New York City, passing through Atlanta at 9 a.m.
I arrived in New York at 5 p.m. on Friday. Here after a shower in the Centurion and a snack I went to take Virgin Atlantic's A350/1000 to London where I landed at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
In conclusion
The most intense part of the challenge, for me, is definitely the Asian part. The first week of December I will have no room for any kind of delay, I will not be able to afford the slightest disruption otherwise like a house of cards everything will collapse and I will be left with a fistful of miles in my hand.
