For the series: few but 'good'. There are now only three aircraft in the fleet of ITA Airways that still have the livery of Alitalia: to see, 3 years after the end of glorious AZ, the old liveries can only please nostalgic people like me.
In this article:
These are two Airbus A320ceo (EI-IKG and EI-IKL brands) and a A319 (EI-IMF brands): the latter, if you will, is even more special in that it features the fourth and final livery of AZ, the one desired by Etihad, with the ivory-colored fuselage, some spirals on the tail, and the historical tricolor definitely more vivid than the historical livery.
These three aircraft, it is clear, will not have a very long life span: not only because they have several decades on their shoulders (the 320s in question will soon be 24 years old, while the 319 recently blew out 20 candles) but also because ITA's goal is to have, by 2030, a fleet composed exclusively of new aircraft made in Toulouse.
The Alitalia brand., however - which, let us recall, was taken over by ITA Airways - should not disappear completely by the time these three aircraft are retired.
Indeed, in September, on the sidelines of the opening of the company's new offices in Milan, AZ's top management showed a video at the end of which appeared the words "ITA Airways, inspired by Alitalia". President Antonio Turicchi explained that "the Alitalia brand will appear on certain touch points, i.e., it will be linked to the ITA brand in specific aspects of the company's business and its relationship with customers".
Will the old and glorious brand be reintroduced? Hard to say. What is certain is that In late November, after final approval by the European Commission., a clearer outline of the future of our national airline will begin to emerge.
