Qatar Airways brings first class (and premium economy) to Milan. With Emirates', it is the only "first class" available from Italy
New year, new aero and new class. Beginning January 1, 2025 and ending Winter 2024-2025 [...]

New year, new aero and new class. As of January 1, 2025 and until the end of Winter 2024-2025 (i.e. March 29, 2025), Qatar Airways will replace one of three Airbuses Three-class A350-900 (no QSuite) flying daily between Doha and Milan Malpensa with a Boeing 777-300ER.
In this article:
The machine change will affect the rotation operated with flights QR127 and QR128: the former leaves Doha at 9 a.m. to land in Malpensa at 1:25 p.m., the latter redeparts Malpensa at 3:35 p.m. to land in Qatar at 11:15 p.m.
The first class of Qatar
Qatar has recently changed its mind about the First Class cabin.. The course charted by the old CEO, Al Baker, was to eliminate the most exclusive cabin, replacing it with the award-winning QSuite. Then the change at the top, and probably the market, have changed the minds of the new management and today QR's plans include a new F booth. when the 777/9s arrive, the same ones where QSuite 2.0 will be installed.
To date, first class cabins on board Qatar are on only two machines: the A380s and a few 777/300s. A product no longer in step with the times, especially compared to the standard that QR now offers to the lucky passengers who fly in QSuite.
First Class on Qatar's 777/300s.
The use of the 777 in place of the A350-900 involves. An increase in capacity from 283 to 294 passengers and an increase in classes of service from two to three, since 777-300ERs that will fly to Malpensa have a 6-seat First Class cabin in an exclusive 1-1-1 configuration.
The planes are formerly Cathay Pacific that QR uses to a limited number of destinations, including the Maldives and Hong Kong, and would also have a 34-seat premium economy cabin (2-4-2), which, however, Qatar Airways does not sell as such (not having Premium Eco on any of its other aircraft). Those who wish, however, sit in this cabin with wider seats and more leg room, Will be able to do so by paying a surcharge, even if the service will be in all respects that of Economy.
First's 6 suites have 36-inch (91-centimeter) seats that convert into 81-inch (206cm) long beds. The IFE screen is 18 inches.
Behind First, the ex-Cathay 777-300ERs feature. a 54-seat Business Class in 1-2-1 configuration, divided over two cabins. A small one with only 8 seats and a grnde main one.
Precisely because QR does not offer premium economy, On these planes, seats are sold with traditional service, but with the option of taking a significantly more comfortable seat and travel in a much less crowded cabin. There are 34 seats with a 2-4-2 configuration positioned before the rest of the economy configured in 3-4-3 rows.
Booking Qatar First Class with Points
Taking advantage of the current Black friday promotions to take away the splurge of flying first class with Qatar might be a good strategy, but equally interesting is the avios option. Flying "first" also opens its doors to the most exclusive of Qatar's lounges in Doha,
Flying with offers from Milan to Hong Kong, doing both routes in business has a cost of €1,385, doing them in First brings the expense to just over 3 thousand euros.
The same routes using avios points cost from 45 to 135k points, i recommend never booking flex tickets!
Watch out for other destinations as well, for example, it is possible to mix classes and fly F from Milan to Doha and depart in business to Tokyo Spending as little as 80,000 avios.
Other Italian routes with first class
At Rome Fiumicino, on the other hand, daily operations will remain, even at the beginning of next year, entrusted to three Airbus A350s: two -900s (one of them equipped with QSuite in Business Class) and a -1000 equipped with QSuite in Business Class.
Qatar Airways First Introduced on the Doha-Milan-Doha from January 1 to March 29, 2025 will be the only top cabin operating over Italy along with the one installed on Emirates' A380s flying twice a day between Dubai and Milan and between Dubai and Rome, and the one mounted on Boeing 777-300ERs flying to Venice and Bologna, always from Dubai.
The city of Romagna, however, will lose First when, starting March 15, 2025, will join the list of destinations served by Emirates with the brand new A350-900s, which have yes three classes like the 777s but with Business, Premium Economy and Economy instead of First, Business and Economy.
