Several users in recent months have reported Uptrip to me., Lufthansa's app that provides benefits to those who use it, and now that ITA is also on its way to the German group, it's time to start understanding how it works, how to take advantage of it, and especially how to accumulate benefits and perks (including retroactive ones).

The Lufthansa Innovation Hub is a hotbed of ideas that are often launched and put to the test by passengers, some soon fall into oblivion, others become app and site features and improve, in some way, the life of the passenger. Uptrip is, arguably, the most important innovation on the market and is a unique product in the aviation world.
Launched in early 2023, it allows users to collect digital cards every time they take a flight with a Lufthansa Group carrier, much like in the sticker album of yesteryear, each completed collection generates a bonus such as status points, lounge access vouchers, and even allows users to go as far as obtaining frequent flyer status in Miles&More.

It is an app that can be downloaded either on iOS devices than Android, and every time you fly on a flight from one of the German group's companies you get the chance to select two cards to collect. It is not excluded that in the coming months we will see ITA's logo among the available carriers.

What are the prizes up for grabs
When you complete a collection you have the opportunity to claim the associated prize. Prizes change based on availability and how often they are chosen.
Right now you can redeem vouchers for wi-fi, lounge access, as well as physical rewards such as model airplanes, trolleys from the world shop. As for Miles&More, the group-wide loyalty program, there is the possibility of simply earning miles, qualifying points, and if you complete the "Frequent Traveller" collection you will have the status for one year.
You can exchange "figu" for a fee
The app allows you to trade cards with other users; for a cost of €0.99 you can trade cards and buy them from a user who has duplicates or available cards. Keep in mind, however, that each collection requires a certain number of original cards; traded cards are not considered original. If desired, it is also possible to pay in crypto as a reminder that the technology on which this collection is based is typical of NFTs.
New features coming soon
It looks like challenges between members will be coming in the next releases, where you can compare your collections and more. Definitely a great way to engage your community, certainly not the little houses of KLM or Delta's trading cards, but Is a really nice initiative.
