Aeroitalia Will have in service a third model airplane, alongside the Boeing 737-800, 737-400 and the single Airbus A319 it already has in its fleet. It is the Embraer ERJ-175, a regional jet with capacity for 88 seats and rows of 4 seats in a 2-2 configuration (Each passenger will be provided with window or aisle).
In this article:
The new aircraft will arrive as early as next week and will be taken leased from Marathon Airlines, a Greek operator specializing precisely in leasing, ACMI, and charters, but it will be in Aeroitalia livery.
For summer 2025 should be flanked by at least one other aircraft of the same type, since aeroroutes.com predicts that between March 30 and October 25, 2025, the ERJ will be deployed on twelve domestic routes, supporting the operations of the more capacious Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A319.
ERJs will fly twice a week Between Comiso and Bologna, Cuneo, Florence and Parma; once a day From Bergamo Orio al Serio to Catania, Comiso and Palermo; six times a week between Rome Fiumicino and Comiso and 24 times a week between Rome Fiumicino and Lamezia Terme; finally, they will connect twice a week Trapani with Cuneo and Parma.
As much in in-flight service (which includes free distribution of water, coffee, and tea) as in fleet matters, Aeroitalia remains deviant from traditional low-cost airlines, which choose one model of airplane and then go with that.
Instead, Aeroitalia seems to be tending to articulate its fleet according to demand: in fact, it is flanking the 189-seat 737-800s with two 168- and 170-seat 737-400s and a 144-seat A319; and now comes the 88-seat ERJ.
