Air Asia relaunches its 'ASEAN Explorer Pass'. Exactly as it did a couple of years ago, the low-cost carrier is offering its passengers the opportunity to Flying - for one year, unlimited - in the ASEAN region (Brunei, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam). The cost is not excessive: we are talking about 1283 Malaysian Ringgit, at the exchange rate approx. 290 dollars.

This promo can be convenient, but it is good to consider the limitations. Sure enough, from May 7-for one year-passengers can redeem domestic and international flights in the ASEAN region for free (only airport taxes and extras such as luggage and seat selection will need to be paid) and are entitled to a discount of up to 50% in selected hotels.
Not to mention, then, that also included is a free airport transfer (worth 80 Malaysian Ringgit) to and from Kuala Lumpur airport.
The disadvantages, however, are there. As can be read in the FAQ on the Air Asia website, flights must be booked with 14 days in advance: not exactly convenient. In addition to this, one can take advantage of the pass to fly a maximum of 2 times a day; last but not least, passengers who purchase Air Asia's Explorer Pass can take advantage of a maximum of 3 'non-shows,' after which the pass will be revoked.
In short, the offer is evidently attractive, especially for those who plan to travel frequently to Asia during the coming year. But all that glitters is not gold: you have to do the math right and, above all, read the T&Cs.
