4 tracks, a 900,000-square-meter terminal and an artificial island as large as 20km square: These are -- plus inch, minus inch -- the measurements of the next mega airport to be built in China. Once completed, as CNN reports, it will become the largest port of call on an artificial island, surpassing both that of Hong Kong (HKG) than that of Kansai (KIX).

The airport will be located near Dalian, a city in Liaoning Province located in northwest China, and will be named "Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport". Dalian, a hub for both trade and coastal tourism, is currently served by Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, which-because of the city's expansion-has been Expanded four times, in 1992, 1993, 2005 and 2011. Today, however, in view of the large urban area that has sprung up around the airport, it is no longer possible to expand it: so it was decided to build a new one, which will replace the old one.

The terminal, according to the authorities' plans, will initially handle 43 million passengers a year -- we are talking about more than double the current capacity of Dalian Zhoushuizi Airport -- but The goal is to reach up to 80 million travelers each year.
How much will the new airport cost? And when will it be inaugurated? According to Hindustan Times reports, the total cost will be around the 4.3 billion dollars, while scheduled to open in 2035; there is still a wait.
