The Apple AirTag are a real godsend for travelers: just insert one in each piece of luggage to monitor, constantly, the position via their smartphone.

In the summer of 2022, during one of his world tours, the Barbone told extensively about Airmageddon at London Heathrow and his missing suitcase. Or, rather, missing not so much: precisely because of an AirTag embedded inside, he knew precisely where his suitcase was, but that was not enough to recover it quickly.
For the past few weeks, with the latest iOS 18.2 update, Apple allows the sharing of an AirTag's location, such as with airline personnel. Sharing the location of one's AirTag is super easy: simply generate a link within "Where's", an app available for iPhone, iPad and Mac. The link, once opened, gives access to a website that shows the location of the Tag in an interactive map: the portal, then, will update automatically whenever a new location is available; a caption with day and time related to the last survey will also be shown.
"We have been working closely with Apple to integrate the Share Item Location feature into our baggage retrieval process, and we are happy to announce that we will soon make this feature available to our customers. We know that many of our customers and clients already place an AirTag in checked baggage, and soon this feature will make it easier for them to securely share location information with us, helping our customer service teams work more efficiently and giving our customers greater peace of mind. We initially plan to capture the locations of items in the Where's network at a few specific airports, but the goal is to have the system operational worldwide by early 2025," commented David Kinzelman, Chief Customer Officer of United.
There are currently 18 carriers that already support this feature: Air Lingus, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Austrian, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, Turkish Airlines, United, Virgin Atlantic, and Vueling.
