Luxair, Luxembourg's national airline, is a relatively small and little-known carrier owned by the Luxembourg government.
In this article:
Until 2015 Lufthansa owned a small stake (amounting to 13%) in the company: after the stake was sold, however, Luxair continued (and still continues) to use Miles&More as a loyalty program.
The Luxembourg-based carrier flies a fleet of 21 Aircraft - 10 Boeing 737s (in -700, -800 and MAX variants) and 11 Dash 8 Q400s - toward 85 destinations at Europe, North Africa e Middle East. In Italy, specifically, it flies to Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Milan-Linate, Milan-Malpensa, Naples, Pescara, Rome and Venice.
In the coming years, however, Luxair's fleet will grow and be more diverse and modern. Indeed, it is news in recent days that the Luxembourg-based carrier has ordered a new type of aircraft: This is the Embraer E195-E2, the most modern version of the aircraft produced by the Brazilian company; there are 6, in total, E-jets ordered by Luxair, which will enter the fleet between 2026 and 2027.
Luxair's E195-E2 will be outfitted with only one class, economy, for a total of 136 places: the layout will be 2-2 (this means there will be no hated middle seats) and the seats will be the popular Recaro.
