The redesign-curated by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merill and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon-was not only lengthy but also very profound: when guests re-enter the Waldorf Astoria in NY, they will be faced with a decidedly different hotel Compared to what it looked like before.
While initially the Waldorf Astoria offered more than 1,400 rooms, from next year instead "only" 375 will be available to guests. The number of rooms decreases, it is true, but the size of the rooms increases: Should extend for at least 50sqm.
The offer for guests, then, includes a large spa, a well-equipped fitness center and an outdoor terrace that serves as an oasis of peace within the metropolis; not to mention, then, the nearly 4 thousand square meters of event space, such as the Grand Ballroom, Jade Room, Astor Salon, Basildon Room and Silver Corridor.
Hilton also announced that the Waldorf Astoria restaurant will be led by the chef Michael Anthony and will be called "Lex Yard"-it will be an American brasserie-style restaurant that will, however, offer a dining experience of a certain level. It will also feature the Peacock Alley lounge bar, icon of the Waldorf Astoria in NY.
The Waldorf Astoria in the Big Apple, as a Hilton property, will obviously participate in the loyalty program Hilton Honors: It will be interesting to see what the cost will be to redeem an award night. Reservations will open on December 10.
