From now on Barcelona Will be, until proven otherwise, Europe's best airport when it comes to independent lounges.
In this article:
In fact, if I was wondering before how it was possible that. Pau Casals had never triumphed. to awards such as Skytrax and the like, Today I wonder how it is possible that this lounge is not crowned (every year) as the best independent lounge in Europe And for me it is also in the world top3 along with the PrimeClass in Muscat and a few others.
Location
We are located at T1 in the non-Schengen area of the Catalan airport.. In a nutshell you can enter this lounge if you fly Singapore Airlines to Milan, but also if you fly to London with Vueling. Actually since the electronic border controls are also passed with the electronic ID card you could enter even if you fly into Europe, but for that there is Pau Casals.
Go through the duty free and take the elevator down to the second level, the door opens just to the left of the reception desk.
Access
On one thing at this airport they are fiscal, the rules of access, timing, quantity. For example if you have a paper ticket they stamp your boarding pass to prevent you from entering different lounges on the same day, which in my life has only happened to me at this stopover. Note that it also happens if you fly business not just if you use Priority Pass or similar.
This lounge serves both status passengers and those flying business and Priority pass holders, basically all those who have a right of entry Can use this room.
The lounge
We are on the opposite side of the Casals, the overlook is only on the terminal and not on the runway, this is the only drawback of this hall.
This is probably the largest independent lounge in Europe is really endless. Stuff that we Italians dream about and indeed should host visiting managers of tricolor airports to understand what "vip lounge" means.
To the left of the reception desk is the area that ,physiologically, is always more crowded, the reason being that it is the one that is easiest to reach and where one thinks there are the greatest amenities. But then if you take a few steps around this room, you realize that Turning right is the right choice to make.
Very nice is the view of the bustle street, you can see from above the passengers walking around the terminal, stores and restaurants like little ants.
Or you can collapse on one of the many sofas, armchairs, seats of different kinds. It seems to me almost disproportionate for the BCN airport., but it is true ch is the only one for all passengers and Emirates, Qatar, Asiana and many others also fly here.
Wanting to be secluded, there are also really convenient solutions for taking a nap.
Very important thing are the bathrooms: clean and many, compared to some situations where the size of the lounge comes at the expense of physiological needs.
Services
This is where it really makes a difference. Starting with the beautiful and convenient coworking area. Long tables comfortable chairs and power outlets.
There are two meeting rooms, there is the prayer room and the nap room. You can sleep under a starry sky As on board EK's planes.
There is a area with seating for children, a megatv where you can watch sports and still plenty of space to find a comfortable place to work, relax, watch a movie.
Food & Beverage
What good I had told about the Casals sister, but better.. The main buffet has everything.
From savory to sweet, from sandwiches to hot dishes. Finger foods and single portions, truly a level above anything available to travelers in the old continent today.
A second, much less crowded buffet is available from the opposite area. There is also a beautiful dining room here, great if you don't want to eat on the couch or at the high tables in the main buffet.
Also wine side there is everything, but this does not surprise me is a constant in Spanish lounges.
In conclusion
TFCbest sure at the end of the year for this Joa Miró room, really too bad that in Italy it is impossible to have a product like this would be really perfect in an airport like Malpensa.
