China has introduced major updates to its visa-free entry regime, offering new opportunities to visit the country without having to deal with lengthy paperwork.

Visa-free entry extended to multiple nationalities
As of Nov. 30, 2024, China extended visa-free entry to citizens of 38 countries, increasing the length of stay from 15 to 30 days. This facility will be valid unless extended, until December 31, 2025.
- List of EU nationalities currently covered (13 countries)
The citizens of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and recently, Norway, will be able to continue to benefit from visa-free entry until the end of 2025.
- New countries added
The list has been expanded to include. Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Malta, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Romania, who will be able to take advantage of this visa-free regime on an experimental basis.
In conclusion
These measures represent a further opening by China to international travelers, with the aim of fostering tourism and cultural exchanges. Since this trial was initiated, late 2023, I have already entered the China 4 times.
Not having to do any visa is a huge advantage, especially if one is traveling in the area it is possible to "pop over" to Shanghai or Beijing without worrying about anything.
