Much better than I expected: review Skycourt Lounge Budapest airport

Budapest is the exception that proves the rule. The rule would be that Plaza Premium lounges are generally better than other independent lounges, But in this airport it is not so.

Budapest has won the Skytrax award as the best airport in Eastern Europe continuously for years. In my opinion Warsaw and Riga, just to name two are better, but who am I to contradict Skytrax. Sure here is the terrace with beer garden and runway view that other airports don't have.

The lounges in the Schengen area of this airport are close to each other. Of course, the first one I visited was the Plaza Premium, but it was a half disappointment. Then I was obliged to visit this Skycourt, I say obliged because PP closed at 2o, while this one pulls in until 9 p.m. and thankfully because it is 10 times better.

Location

It is located on the upper floor to the left of Costa Coffee. Once you exit the duty free, post checks, just take the escalator and go up to the upper floor.

Access

The lounge is open to Priority Pass and Dragon Pass holders, which for those who don't know, are owned by the same group.

This is also the flagship lounge for almost all airlines flying into this airport.

The lounge

I was biased, if PP had been so bad what to expect from a lesser known independent lounge? and instead what a nice surprise.

This lounge is much larger, pretty in decor, full of places, and pleasant to live in.

All this despite the fact that there is no opening on the outside, but clever lighting that does not make guests hysterical.

There is also a small business area with two computers and a printer, all usable free of charge by guests.

Food & Beverage

It also wins the challenge with PP in this aspect.

Very generous offer for an independent lounge in an airport where, I remind you, low-cost companies like Wizz Air, which is the host, rule.

No expense is spared in anything, not even in the supply of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Really above average.

In conclusion

If it also had a view of the runway it would have been really perfect, but you can't get everything from Priority Pass.

The verdict

A surprise, a lounge that you don't expect and instead makes your trip better. Satisfying food offerings, there's everything to drink, and if it's not too crowded it's also comfortable.
