Some Brazilian illegal immigrants, deported from the United States, attempted a sensational escape at Manaus airport in Brazil, where their flight had made a stopover on the night of Jan. 24 to refuel.

The episode was witnessed live by 'Barbone' Matteo Rainisio, who was sitting aboard a TAP Airbus A321LR about to depart for Belem and Lisbon and parked right next to the American airline GlobalX's Airbus A320 carrying the deportees.
Suddenly, the A320's emergency slides opened., probably as a result of one of the deportees opening the left wing emergency exit. E some of them tried to escape, using the slides to get to the track. At that point, airport staff and then police intervened, stopping them.
Brazilian media reported that 90 Brazilian illegal immigrants were on board Flight G66160 and that the flight, which departed from Alexandria Airport in Louisiana, was bound for Belo Horizonte. Neither the airport authorities nor the airline have provided official explanations of exactly what happened aboard the A320.
Online articles report that The one transiting Manaus last night would be the second repatriation flight of illegals from the United States to Brazil in 2025, after the Trump administration implemented policies to deport illegal immigrants from the United States.
GlobalX is a U.S. company based in Miami. and with a fleet consisting of 7 Airbus A321s, 10 Airbus A320s and 1 Airbus A319. She is among those 'contracted' by the U.S. government for flights to repatriate immigrants illegally on U.S. soil.
