Cuirio Collection is, among the insignia of Hilton, the one that identifies hotels with a different soul and not identifiable with the intermediate signs, let's say it is the cheaper version of SLH hotels.
In this article:
In the course of our vacation in Australia we made a stop in Melbourne, the capital of Australian sporting events since the Australian Open is here and the Moto GP and F1 grand prix are run here, we just arrived the day after the end of the MotoGP weekend. We decided to try two Hilton hotels here because I needed to cut 30-stay quota and renew the Diamond level for another year.
Reservation
Until the end of 2024, I also took advantage of the new Hilton for business program, selecting all reservations as business not only accumulation double qualifying nights, but also 5000 extra Hilton Honors points for every 10 stays.
The price for a stay of two nights, also taking advantage of the option not to pay for the 3rd guest was 180€ per night. Obviously having Gold or higher status we also had free breakfast, a benefit also extended to my daughter, which is not taken for granted but much appreciated.
Location
The hotel is located in the very center of Melbourne, from here you can walk to Elizabeth road, China Town, Flinders Street and also reach the Rod Laver Arena area, or the tennis courts where the first Slam of the season is played.
Check-in
The lobby is located on the 2nd floor of the tower that houses the hotel. We arrived directly from the airport after about a 30-minute drive. We arrived a few minutes after 11 a.m. and in less than 5′ later we were on the 23rd floor in our room with a "view" of the city. Nice idea to have the guest choose the colors of the room keys, a great way to understand the guest's mood.
The room
Unfortunately, as soon as we opened the door we realized that I had made a "small" mistake in my reservation; I had booked a two-bed room and not a double room.
Unfortunately, the hotel was full and had no other rooms available And so we made do.
The room is a classic hotel chain room. Spacious, with all the usual gadgets.
Nothing to remember except the really convenient location for getting around up and down the city.
Spacious bathroom with the treat of a Dyson hair dryer.
The structure
On the second floor, there is a spacious relaxation area in addition to the reception area. Here you can wait for friends, take refuge from heat after a day out and about in the city, or relax before going out to dinner.
Also on the second floor is the hotel lounge, a feature not taken for granted in a Curio.
The lounge offers afternoon happy hour, drinks and snacks are available all day long, and best of all, it is open h24.
Not only a quiet and welcoming environment, but also two meeting rooms perfect for working on Italian time without waking up those in the room sleeping.
On the second floor is the hotel gym, all made in Italy and perfectly suited to meet the needs of guests. To make this hotel perfect, perhaps only the pool was missing.
Food & Beverage
The restaurant is called "La Madonna" and is on the 3rd floor of the hotel. Here is the main room, the one used for breakfast.
There is also a beautiful bar counter with an equally nice room overlooking the outside view.
Breakfast is al a la carte, and for those without status it is chargeable, with prices ranging from AUD 20 to AUD 30 per person. We tried a little bit of everything from the menu, and I must say that the quality of the offerings was good.
In conclusion
With the entry of SLH are considerably the Hilton facilities in the city., but traditional hotels are not many, and this is definitely one of the most interesting.
