Successes should be celebrated, evidently, which is why Wizz held a special ceremony at FCO. The lucky passenger, before boarding his flight to Vienna, was welcomed with celebration and received a prize voucher.
"This result reflects the trust our passengers place in us and the success of our continued expansion in Italy," commented Tamara Nikiforova, Senior Manager of Communications at Wizz Air.
The 20 million passenger milestone at Rome-Fiumicino's "Leonardo Da Vinci" airport adds to Wizz's many achievements during 2024. As we have reported in these pages, the airline has operated about 300,000 flights in the past 12 months, 90,000 of which are in Italy alone and more than 30,000 from Fiumicino: we talk about a +38% compared to 2023.
That of Rome-Fiumicino is, in fact, the Wizz Air's largest Italian base. It is such a nerve center that recently , the carrier has opened the new Training Center near FCO. The center has been operational since last Oct. 1, 2024, and is intended to train the company's staff, which has more than 7,000 members across the country.
