At today's press conference, ITA Airways' new No. 1, Joerg Eberhart answering reporters' questions clarified what will be the plan of for the revitalization of the Alitalia brand.

"The brand was rightly bought by ITA and so we will see if and when it is appropriate to bring the Alitalia brand back on the liveries of the group's planes."
The brand relaunch initiative Alitalia had been announced last September, but without clarifying the details of how it would be repositioned. Today the clarification by the new management.

While Carsten Spohr clarified that It is currently not the intention of the Lufthansa group to proceed with the purchase of the remaining share of ITA's shares Airways in the hands of MISE, it was the CEO's turn to answer the thorniest questions.
"The Alitalia brand is an important asset of ITA, but before thinking about a brand relaunch we need to reach a situation of financial balance, LH did not buy ITA to break even, but to make profits and grow on all fronts. That's why first we will focus on confirming ITA's excellent performance in recent years and then we will think, if and how, about restoring the Alitalia livery on our future planes."
