"Pasta la vista, Genova awaits", with this claim Aurigny launched its new route between Guernsey, an island in the English Channel, and Genoa, Liguria. It was discussed in recent days by the newspaper Genoa24.co.uk.
In this article:
And aside from the confusion that the "Spanishy" pun might generate, flights on the route were nearly sold out in less than a week. If after five days of launching, as the BBC also reported, the seats purchased were the 70%, to date there are almost zero tickets available.
"It is one of the fastest selling flights in our history" they say from the low-cost carrier, based in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a state under British crown dependency.
The company operates only short-haul flights. The route between Guernsey and the Columbus will be active in a rather short period, in the upcoming aviation summer, between April 12 and May 10.
Why Genoa? Aurigny directly asks its users what destinations they are interested in, and the response of about a thousand islanders was Genoa itself, probably along with the nearby Cinque Terre and the east and west coasts.
Although it will not be easy at this point to find a round-trip ticket (in any case at no less than 260 euros, Aurigny's website in hand), it goes without saying that the new route could also be interesting, from a tourist point of view, for Genoese who would like to experience a few days on the island.
Aurigny currently has a fleet of five planes, three ATR 72-600s, delivered in 2019/2020, equipped with 72 seats, and two Dornier 228s just to serve routes to Alderney.
