Oman Air is a Little-known and underrated airline and instead definitely deserves more fame and success. Crushed by the popularity of the three Gulf sisters (Emirates, Ethiad, and Qatar) it also suffers from the fact that touristically the southernmost sultanate of the peninsula has not yet exploded, as in the Emirates.
In this article:
Personally, however. I think Muscat is a very interesting destination because of history, culture and because, unlike the rest of the area, it is not just sand and skyscrapers, but there is also a lot of nature thanks to its decidedly less arid climate than in other countries.
Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?
You could get up to 600€ compensation per person
The special feature of Oman Air is that it has a small, but very cool fleet, and it doesn't fly in many places, but where it does fly it does so in style and should soon finally enshrine its entry into the oneWorld alliance.
Location
Bangkok Airport is a huge single terminal, although now the satellite has become operational, there are almost 20 lounges here and Oman Air, despite having only two daily flights, has a lounge open h24.
The hall is located a short distance from that of Air France and Turkish Airlines, both of which also operate as Priority Passes at certain times of the day. Past immigration you have to turn right and proceed along the stores and duty free part. At the E/G gates you have to go down to the lower, gate level; the lounge is right at the beginning of the bridge.
Access
Since it is an official lounge you have to fly business class or first, or be a member of the airline's loyalty program.
For a short time yet, Oman Air is not participating in any alliance, but the path to joining oneWorld is mapped out and by the end of 2025 it will be a full member of the alliance that also includes British Airways, Qatar, and Qantas.
The lounge is also open to priority pass passengers, during the hours (many) when there are no WY flights
The lounge
The hall is not very large, but there would be no need, in fact it is already so much that for only two daily flights the company maintains this investment, and I am curious to see if once the OW entry is completed it will be maintained, as there are lounges here for Cathay Pacific, Qantas, JAL, and Qatar that could be used by passengers of Oman Air.
It is divided into two small lounges, one reserved for first and business passengers, here there are mainly seats and two small sofas with a curtain that partially isolates from the rest of the room.
Here, for example, they had reserved a seat for me precisely when I flew first class with the Omani airline, cabin unfortunately that has ceased to exist.
The main hall, is the one that houses the buffet area.
It is an open space with sofas in the center and along the wall. This is also one of the few lounges at this airport that has a view of the runway.
Stools and two iMacs are placed in front of the window for browsing and/or working while waiting for the flight.
Then there is a table with always a different flower arrangement in the center.
Food & Beverage
Small and well stocked, there is not a huge food offering, but h24 there is something hot, sweet and savory. Products presented well and of quality, which is not expected in other more emblazoned lounges at this airport.
The drinks corner is equally well stocked, several bottles of super spirits, a macchientta for hot drinks, a cooler for fresh wines, and a self-service bar where soft drinks, beers, and other beverages are offered.
In conclusion
Precisely because it is undervalued, it is often less crowded, being smaller it is less noisy, and the two separate rooms also help manage the influxes. Highly recommended.
