The Wharf is, without a doubt, one of the newest areas in Washington, D.C.. A redevelopment of the Marina area that transformed a blighted area into a new attractive hub for the city.
In this article:
Hotels, trendy restaurants, and concert venues have merged together with the seaside part, with the iconic shellfish market transforming a part of the city from infamous to an attractive hub for locals and tourists.
Location
The Wharf is not far from the Capitol Hill area., but always better to take a Lyft (or an uber) if you don't feel like walking or if outside, as in our case it went from 100 degrees fahrenheit to a universal deluge in 10 minutes.
Canopy is a young sign of Hilton, along the lines of the Mottos it bills itself as a no frills hotel, suitable for those looking for a place to have fun and sleep comfortably. They are so similar that I struggle to see what the differences are between the two families. A little bit like what happens in Marriott between Moxy and Aloft.
Reservation
Of course, I booked through the app, remembering to classify the living room as business, in this way I accumulated extra points and also double qualifying nights.
In the Hiltons in America nowadays you can skip the step to the front desk, you can do everything through the phoneio and thanks to the digital key you can activate the elevator and open the door to the room, you just need to be close by and with your cell phone in hand.
The price was very competitive, and so in our hopping from hotel to hotel we decided to try this facility from the cost of 255$ including taxes per night.
The room
Having booked a two-bed room I didn't have much hope of receiving an upgrade in a better room, but still being a brand new hotel I had no doubt about the quality of the product.
Our room had a partial view of the Potomac River, the river that cuts traces the boundaries of the District of Columbia from Maryland and Virginia.
The design of these hotels is modern and essential. Room 100% home automation and manageable, if desired even from the cell phone.
Excellent and comfortable queen mattresses, mega screen that as usual greets the guest.
Surely the view from the window is the beautiful thing about this room, if there is a universal downpour going on outside it is even more beautiful To enjoy the chair positioned underneath.
The bathroom is basic like everything else, but there is everything you need,.
The hotel
This Canopy is in the center of The Wharf, on the second floor is the reception and main restaurant. Here every day from 6 to 7 p.m. is happy hour with two drinks on the house for all guests.
There is a rooftop bar on the top floor, however, where entry is prohibited to those under 21 years of age.
The staircase from the lobby to the ground floor is very scenic, and in fact many guests take advantage of it for IG-perfect shots.
Food & Beverage
As Hilton is known to have removed the free breakfast benefit in the U.S., turning it into a credit to spend in hotel restaurants. We did so and treated ourselves to two snacks, during happy hour and we had breakfast at a bakery outside the hotel door.
In conclusion
After staying in different parts of Washington DC. I say if you are in a group this area is really interesting to stay a few minutes from the historical cultural part, but sleeping in an area where there is plenty to do in the evening and at an ache price lower than in other areas such as Dupont Circle or Georgetown.
