But how many people live with this anxiety?
In a recent survey we launched on Instagram and Facebook, and on the WhatsApp channel, we decided to ask our community how many of them were afraid. And although it is mostly formed by people who are passionate about air travel, very interesting data still emerged.
Most, as we expected have never been afraid. Many others, however, are afraid but travel anyway, some take pills or medication, and some do not travel at all.
What emerges from our survey is that fear of flying exists, but it is not necessarily an insurmountable obstacle. This is precisely why several airlines (but not only) organize both in-person and online courses to overcome this anxiety.

Want to Fly of ITA Airways
The course is held in the Flight Center ITA Airways in Rome and Milan. During the various modules, you learn to familiarize yourself with the various phases of flight through the simulator virtual reality; you participate in meetings with the Commanders and the crew; the psychological themes e aviation; yes fly to an Italian destination accompanied by ITA Airways staff. BA promotes several courses dedicated to those who are nervous about flying, those who have never flown, those who have stopped flying, and those who want to help someone else fly. These courses include both a theoretical and a practical part in the company of pilots, flight attendants and psychologists.
EasyJet's Fear Less Flyer
This is an online course. It is 16 interactive video learning modules on the fear of flying, led by Lawrence Leyton of the Channel 4 TV program "Fear of Flying." It will also feature one of easyJet's senior captains who will explain the principles of flying and answer all your questions.
"Fit-to-Fly" by SWISS, Edelweiss and Lufthansa.
Those who live in Switzerland, or near its border, can attend the "Fit-to-Fly" seminar in Zurich to understand what happens to the aircraft at each stage of the flight, how turbulence is not a problem and what is "hidden" behind the aircraft's noises. Organizing it are SWISS, Edelweiss and Lufthansa.
