After employing it three times-between Sept. 14-21, 2024, and March 2-5, '25-in the Seoul-Barcelona route, this time Asiana Airlines brings one of its Airbus A380s to Italy, in Rome. Specifically, the double-decker giant made in Toulouse will operate connections between the South Korean capital and the Italian capital on May 29 next.
In this article:
Asiana - which, we remind you, will soon be incorporated by Korean Air - operates 5 flights per week between Rome e Seoul, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday; normally this route is served by OZ's flagship A350-900XWB, but depending on rotations it is possible to fly aboard older Boeing 777-200s.
Departure from Rome is scheduled at 8:20 p.m., while arrival in Seoul (ICN) is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. the following day (local time); on the reverse leg, however, flight OZ561 takes off from Incheon Airport at 12:20 p.m. and lands in Fiumicino after 13 hours and 10 minutes, at 6:30 p.m. (local time). As can be seen from the screenshot, places have already run out both in tourist and business class. Or, at least, that's what it looks like: taking a quick look at Expert Flyer, the plane turns out to be almost empty.
The Barbone, as a great admirer of the A380, has already flown Asiana's double-decker and recounted his impressions in these pages (as well as in the YouTube channel).
OZ's A380 is outfitted in two classes: business and economy. In the main deck there are 12 business seats, so-called 'business suites,' and 319 economy class seats. On the upper deck, however, there are 66 business class seats and 106 economy class seats. The configuration of business-both suites and 'standard' seats-is 1-2-1: all passengers have, therefore, aisle access.
