Air New Zealand has never flown to Italy. Before the Covid-19 pandemic brought the travel industry and the world as a whole to its knees, however, New Zealand's flag carrier flew to one destination in Europe, viz. London; the links, however, never resumed.

At the same time, just before the spread of Sars-Cov2 exploded, AirNZ announced the new uniforms for crew members such as pilots, flight attendants and ground staff. Today, with almost 6 years late, the new uniforms have become a reality.
Designed by New Zealand designer Emilia Wickstead, and adorned with hand-painted prints by artist Te Rangitu Netana, Air New Zealand's new employee 'work clothes' celebrate the story, the culture and theidentity of the country. There's no use getting around it: the new uniforms are, in my opinion, really spectacular. The men's suit, characterized by a pinstripe pattern, is nothing short of elegant; so is the women's dress, purple in color, made even more refined by the prints inspired by the story of Ngatoro-i-Rangi.
"For us, this is more than just a uniform. It is a celebration of our people, our culture and our values. Our new uniform encapsulates everything it stands for: a combination of innovation, rich cultural heritage and a deep sense of pride and belonging," commented Greg Foran, chief executive officer of Air New Zealand.
The 'experimentation' of the new uniforms will begin in May 2025; starting from 2026, then, will be worn by all employees.
