Last remnants of spring: summer is officially upon us. The time has come, therefore, to get comfortable and organize the vacations. If you are planning to spend your vacation in North America, know that you are spoiled for choice: there are more and more Italian airports from which you can fly, nonstop, to North America.
Rome-Fiumicino

Let's start with the biggest and busiest: those in Milan-Malpensa e Rome-Fiumicino. From the capital, thanks to the presence of well 7 companies flying to and from the North America, it is possible to reach several destinations. American Airlines, during the summer of 2025, will offer daily direct connections to and from Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York-JFK e Philadelphia. The flights will be operated with Boeing 787s and 777s.
Delta, on the other hand, will connect Rome with Atlanta (more than one flight per day), Boston (1 per day), Detroit (1 per day) and New York-JFK (up to 3 flights per day). Not only that: from May 24 Rome Fiumicino- next route will be active.Minneapolis: will be available 4 frequencies weekly, operated with B767s in the -300 variant. United, then, will offer direct flights to New York-EWR (2 per day), Chicago (1 per day), Denver (1 per day), San Francisco (1 per day) and Washington (2 per day).

So is our national airline, ITA Airways, will be flying quite a lot between FCO and the US during summer '25. Specifically, direct connections will be available to Boston (1 per day), Chicago (5 per week), Los Angeles (1 per day), Miami (1 per day), New York-JFK (3 flights per day), San Francisco (1 per day), Toronto (1 per day) and Washington (1 per day).
Also Air Canada will connect Rome-Fiumicino with Toronto (12 flights per week); also available are direct flights to and from Montreal (9 per week). Air Transat will fly the same routes: there will be 7 weekly flights to Toronto (1 per day; starting June 29, two connections will be available on Sundays) and as many for Montreal (always 1 per day). Also Westjet will connect Rome's "Da Vinci" with Canada: they will be 6 the weekly flights (daily except Sunday), operated with Boeing 787-9s outfitted with 3 classes of service (business, premium economy and economy).
Finally, also Norse will fly from FCO to North America: in particular, there will be daily flights to New York and 5 per week those for Los Angeles (every day except Wednesday and Sunday).
Milan-Malpensa
American Airlines Will fly once a day from Milan to New York (and vice versa) with its Boeing 777s. Not only that, daily flights will also be available to Philadelphia: In this case the aircraft used will be the newer B787 'Dreamliner' aircraft. Delta, on the other hand, will connect Malpensa with New York (12 flights per week), Boston (4 flights each week) and Atlanta (1 flight per day). The connections will be operated with Airbus A330s. United, again, will offer one flight a day from Milan to Chicago e New York (Newark).
The alternatives for flying to New York are far from over: it is possible to travel, from Malpensa to JFK in NY, aboard the A380 from Emirates (EK offers one flight per day); or, alternatively, you can opt for Neos, which flies 5 days a week (every day except Friday and Sunday) to the Big Apple. Dulcis in fundo, Air Canada will connect Milan-Malpensa and Montreal with one flight per day: the aircraft used will be the Airbus A330-300.
Venice
American Airlines, from theVenice "Marco Polo" airport, flies to two destinations: Philadelphia e Dallas (from June 6); in both cases the frequencies, daily, are operated by Boeing 787 'Dreamliner' aircraft. Delta, on the other hand, flies daily to the JFK of New York and Atlanta: The routes are operated with the now aged Boeing 767s in the -400 variant. United, finally, flies daily on both the Newark of New York both on Dulles International Airport in Washington (starting next May 23). Both routes are operated by the now aged Boeing 767s, outfitted with 3 classes: business - the "Polaris" - premium economy and economy.
They are several also direct flights to Canada. Air Transat will connect Venice and Toronto with two flights per week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays; as many connections to/from Montreal. Flights will be operated with Airbus A330s (in the -200 or -300 version) outfitted with two classes of service, business and economy. Air Canada, for its part, will offer 5 flights a week to/from Toronto and 3 to/from Montreal (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). The aircraft used on these routes will be the Airbus A330.
Naples
L'Naples Capodichino Airport is served by two routes operated by American Airlines. From May 7, daily connections to/from Chicago and Philadelphia will be activated. Delta, on the other hand, from NAP flies 4 times a week at Atlanta (on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays) and daily on the JFK. The routes are operated by the Airbus A330 and Boeing 767, respectively. Finally, United connects the "Capodichino" of Naples with New York (EWR): the operative includes. up to two flights per day, which is scheduled to depart at 09:45; again, the aircraft used on this route is the Boeing 767 (in the -300 or -400 variant).
Air Canada will connect Naples e Montreal with 4 flights per week, every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The route will be operated by Boeing 787s (in the -8 or -9 variant) outfitted with three classes: business - called "Signature class" - premium economy and economy.
Palermo
Neos, from June 6 next, will fly daily to New York's JFK airport: taking off at 11:25 a.m. and landing in the Big Apple after about 9 1/2 hours, at 2:50 p.m. (local time); on the reverse leg, departure is scheduled at 5 p.m. while return is scheduled for 7:20 a.m. the following day (local time). The flights are operated with the Boeing 787 configured with two cabins, premium economy and economy.
From May 21, 2025, and throughout the summer season, also United will begin to fly over Palermo. The operative includes. 3 flights each week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays: departure from Palermo is scheduled at 09:45, while arrival at New York (EWR) is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.; on the reverse leg, it will take off from the Big Apple at 4:15 p.m. and arrive in the Sicilian airport at 7:15 a.m. the following morning. The aircraft used will be the Boeing 767-400ER set up in 3 classes: 34 seats in 'United Polaris' (United's business), 24 premium economy seats and 173 economy class seats; United has 49 B767s (in the -300 and -400 variant) that have an average age of 27 years.
Catania
Delta, as of May 22, 2025 and throughout the summer, will connect with a direct flight Catania e New York (JFK) is the first time the Etna airport has offered a nonstop connection to the United States. The operation includes one flight per day; the aircraft used will be the Boeing 767-300. Admittedly, they are not the newest aircraft (those in Delta's fleet, specifically, have an average age of 26 years), however, it is worth specifying that they are outfitted in 4 classes of service (Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and main cabin).
Lamezia Terme
Air Transat, from June 12, will connect Lamezia Terme and Toronto with one flight per week; the route will be operated with the Airbus A330 configured with two cabins (business and economy). It takes off from Lamezia Terme at 2:00 p.m. and arrives in Toronto at 6:10 p.m. (local time); on the reverse leg, however, departure from the Canadian airport is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. while arrival in Calabria is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. the following day (local time).
Bari
As of June 3 2025 Neos will connect the "Karol Wojtyla" airport in Bari-Palese and New York-JFK. The flight, operating until October 15, 2025, will be operated once a week by the Boeing 787-9 configured with two classes of service (Premium and Economy). The plane will take off from New York every Tuesday at 4 p.m. (local time) and land in Bari on Wednesday at 8 a.m.; from BRI, on the other hand, takeoff is scheduled at 11:30 a.m., while arrival in New York is scheduled for 1:50 p.m.
