Singapore Changi has regained the scepter of world's best airport in recent weeks, stealing it from Doha. We will see in June whether the Asian company can pull off a double by also taking away Qatar's crown as the world's best company. Surely SQ is intent on taking back that scepter as well since it has announced the arrival of the new cabins and now also puts his hands on his lounges, particularly to the saddest ones namely the Silverkris located at T2 in Changi.
In this article:

One of the (few) shortcomings of Singapore Airlines is definitely the lounges, especially those in the airport back home. Silverkris at the award-winning airport's T3 are beautiful, but boring. If we then add that unlike what other Star Alliance carriers do business passengers are rewarded, compared to those with Gold status even in the Krisflyer program this is the company's Achilles' heel. Now, however, things look set to improve since in Terminal 2, the alternative terminal for SQ departures, work has begun on the Modernization of present lounges.
Singapore renovates lounges at T2
The investment of more than $30mln will lead to the complete renovation of the two lounges the Silverkris, the one dedicated to business class passengers, and the Krisflyer Gold reserved for those with Gold Star Alliance status at T2 at Singapore Changi Airport. Work has already begun and will be carried out in several phases with completion expected by mid-2027.

This transformation is a definite step forward in the company's strategy to improve the passenger experience on the ground at its main hub. The renovated lounges will have 50% of extra space and seating, offer enhanced services, and also bring to Terminal 2 the better than the flagship lounges already in Terminal 3, including new food offerings and increased comfort .
"This investment underscores Singapore Airlines' ongoing commitment to delivering a seamless travel experience that lives up to the expectations of our discerning customers," said Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience at SIA.
What to expect from the new lounges

SilverKris First Class Lounge will be bigger, brighter and more airy, thanks to higher ceilings and large floor-to-ceiling windows. The completely renovated bar will offer espresso coffee prepared by professional baristas in the morning and cocktail service in the evening. Live cooking stations will serve Singaporean, Asian and Western cuisine, while the self-service buffet will be expanded to reflect the standards of the T3 lounge. The new First Class Lounge will be the first to be refurbished, with an expected opening in Q4 of 2025.
SilverKris Lounge business class will be larger than 30% in terms of space and will house a relaxation area with recliners for those seeking pre-flight rest. Typical SQ lounge seating will be installed: from iconic wingback chairs to productivity pods, ideal for working, eating or relaxing in privacy. The buffet will be enriched with Asian and Western specialties, flanked by a new full-service bar that will offer coffee in the morning and signature cocktails in the evening. This lounge is expected to be ready by the end of 2025.
KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, will double its capacity, with areas designed for every need: relaxation chairs, workstations and dining areas. Private showers and toilets will finally arrive, allowing even frequent flyers without premium status to be able to freshen up before their flight. This lounge will be the last to be renovated and work will not begin until 2026.
In conclusion
With this announcement, Singapore Airlines confirms its make-up role-not only ground services, but also new cabins on board. The T2 upgrade promises larger spaces, personalized experiences, and food & beverage that matches Singapore's renowned hospitality.
