Cathay Pacific has officially reopened the doors of The Bridge, the historic lounge located in the heart of Hong Kong International Airport, completely renovated to offer an even more refined, welcoming and passenger-centric experience. The news caught all FFs off guard since. this lounge had been closed at the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, and CX, in 2021, had said it did not plan to reopen it.

This reopening represents the first step in the extensive plan to lounge renovation Cathay, which in the coming months will also involve the iconic spaces The Wing, First, The Wing, Business e The Deck at the Hong Kong hub.
A new hospitality concept by Cathay

Strategically located near Gate 35 of Terminal 1, The Bridge has been rethought under the banner of "human-centric" design, which puts the desires and needs of passengers at the center. The goal? To create an environment with a residential, warm and comfortable character that makes every guest feel welcomed and valued. Among the most interesting new features is also the introduction of a biometric check-in system, a first among Cathay lounges, which will flank the classic reception desks.
Guillaume Vivet, General Manager Customer Experience Design at Cathay Pacific, said:
"We wanted to create a truly welcoming space that would leave a lasting impression. Every detail-from the décor to the music to the scent of the lounge-was chosen to provide a relaxing and memorable experience."

Fine materials such as cherry wood, black granite, and travertine combine with original artwork from the collection Gallery in the Skies, selected plants, and beautifully designed furniture, creating a harmonious and distinctive environment somewhere between a gallery and a designer living room.
A doubled (and revamped) gastronomic offering.
As per tradition, The Bridge is divided into two areas: the left dedicated to Asian cuisine and the right to international flavors, with services and settings designed to make each visit a complete sensory experience.
Left Side - China on the Plate

Here the iconic Noodle Bar, beloved by Cathay frequent flyers. On the menu:
- Wonton and dan dan noodles
- Dim sum facts at the moment
- New regional Chinese dishes, such as biangbiang mian or braised beef shank with cauliflower

Next to the Noodle Bar debuts. The Nook, a new concept exclusive to The Bridge: an intimate corner where you can enjoy freshly prepared regional Chinese small plates, stuffed bao, spring onion pancakes, and rice rolls. To complete the experience, a dim sum cart retro style, as functional as it is decorative, a tribute to the Hong Kong tradition.
Right side - International comfort food & First area

This area is designed for clients of First Class and members Cathay Diamond, with more private spaces and even more personalized service.
The Food Hall offers hot dishes prepared express with formula oven-to-plate, including:

- Single-portion casseroles (such as boeuf bourguignon)
- Provencal-style vegetables
- Homemade desserts and freshly baked viennoiserie

The Bar panoramic gives spectacular views of the runway, perfect for sipping a signature cocktail, barista-prepared coffee or a flute of Champagne, accompanied by the hospitality of the Cathay team.
Finally, there is no lack of a relaxation area equipped with the Solo Chairs customized Cathay, for those who want to carve out a moment of absolute privacy before their flight.
What happens now?
- From May 23, 2025, will close The Wing, First for complete renovation (planned reopening in 2026).
- From May 21, The Deck Will temporarily serve as the First Class lounge.
- The following remain operational The Pier, First e The Pier, Business.
In the next two years, Cathay will invest over 100 billion HK dollars in new aircraft, cabins, lounges, and digital solutions, including. new flagship lounges a Hong Kong, Beijing and, for the first time, to New York.
In conclusion
Cathay Pacific once again demonstrates what it means to be a company premium. The redesign of The Bridge is not just aesthetic, but aims for a top-notch sensory and functional experience.

The only flaw is the introduced novelty of having a closed-door section of the lounge, or rather where you only get in if you have Diamond level or a First Class ticket. This is nothing new at oneWorld; both British Airways and Qatar have a similar policy, but until now the Hong Kong-based airline had behaved differently.
