No carrier in the world has a facility comparable to Lufthansa's First Class terminal, it is a real building detached from the airport and Dedicated solely to the German company's most "valuable" passengers.
In this article:
Opened in the early 2000s, it is a pride of German First Class product.
Location
We are outside T2, let's say a 10-minute walk, although I doubt that there will be few passengers arriving by foot, mostly they arrive directly by cab, LH does not offer chauffeur to its customers.
Access
Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?
You could get up to 600€ compensation per person
The rules are the same as for all other first-class lounges: You get in based on your ticket, strictly F's, or if you are in the inner circle of HON Circle members.
The terminal
Like a real airport terminal there is the counter where you check in, then you go through security and enter the actual lounge. I'll say it now who expects a Doha's Al Fursaan-like product will be disappointed, Is a larger version of any lounge of F of the German vector.
To be nitpicky here completely lacks a view of the runway which can instead be had from the many lounges scattered inside Frankfurt airport.
Let's say. the only major difference with the actual terminal is the lack of duty free, since the only store is the worldshop, which is the store that sells Lufthansa products , the same products that can be bought on board, on the Internet or in other airport stores.
In the center is a large bar counter, but as mentioned style, design, content and furnishings are all the same with the other halls.
The outside part is devoted to the relaxation area, the part that faces the large windows, which, however, offer a very sad view of the technical area or parking lots, certainly not an exciting thing.
The services are also the same as those offered elsewhere. There are small office rooms, where they lock themselves in to work without disturbing (or being disturbed). They are assigned to passengers based on availability and throughout their stay.
There is a larger cigar lounge, but where there are no cigars either (but maybe you had to ask for them).
The restaurant area with its buffet.
Then the bathrooms, reminiscent of the outfitting found on the A380 And two small rooms to sleep in darkness and silence, yes only two.
Food&Beverage
There is a buffet, very neat, but nothing wow. There is no set design or even A jeweler's presentation as it happens in Etihad's hall, is a classic breakfast in a level hotel.
The offer splits breakfast and then kitchen open all day from 11 a.m.. In the dining room also Italian staff, which if we talk about cuisine should be a guarantee.
Open cellar, as in a small wine shop, all the wines available in the lounge are on display.
No tablecloths, but placemats, polished service but not comparable to what other carriers offer, such as British Airways in its Concorde Room.
May is, for Germans, synonymous with asparagus. They are literally sick of this vegetable, a stuff that has no comparison in Italy. Indeed, the menu for the month was all about this typical product of Teutonic agriculture, but there were also more commercial items on the menu, such as Wagyu cheesburger, and schnitzel, which is called Schnizel here.
I got this one and then sweetened up with a dessert that echoed the iconic shapes of the iconic LH first class duck.
The LH duck
When it comes to collectible gadgets this object is second only to the KLM cottages, with the only difference being that you only get those if you fly long-haul business, these only if you transit an LH first class lounge.
Escorted aboard
Lounge guests are then escorted on board by LH staff, no Porsches or limousines, but some Audis or Mercedes V-Classes., and no loneliness, but all on the same car if you have the same destination.
In conclusion
Nice idea, but lacks that imagination, that quibus that make say cool. Yes it is big, but it has no view. There is no spa like Air France and many other carriers offer. There is no sought-after ambiance, no terraces or other amenities that make you say, at least to me, I can't wait to go back.
