Lufthansa, here's the Miles&More revolution: it changes everything, but it's not (for now) a bad change
This is it, today is the day of change, and from today the way you will be able to use [...]

Here we go today is the day of change and now completely changes the way Miles&More points can be used and I have to say. I got all my predictions exactly right. The dynamic model chosen by Lufthansa is similar to that of Flying Blue, but I was wrong to assume a price increase, there is not, in fact.
In this article:
In this article. I want to give a first hot analysis, while some aspects are coming to fruition as I write this.

I remind you that these changes will impact Italian FFs since. Miles&More will be, sooner or later, ITA Airways' new loyalty program.
But what a nice surprise
Until yesterday the system had a fixed table. You knew full well how much it cost to travel from A to B in terms of points, as of today that will no longer be the case, but I have to admit things LOOK really interesting and Miles&More, net of very high surcharges, made a change that cannot be classified as a devaluation at all.

Given that it used to cost 51,000 miles to fly business to the US, I found the same ticket to at least 10 destinations at prices below that threshold. For example, flying to NY at just over 40,000 miles, obviously always plus taxes.

No more fixed table, but a hunt for the cheapest ticket in the relevant class, but with situations such as the one I show above. With just over 10,000 miles you can fly from Milan to Hong Kong. Sure surcharges and fees are high, but what makes things worse are the fare rules instead.

Award tickets will follow the same fare rules as cash tickets-the same ticket from Milan to Hong Kong can be paid 10,900 miles or 30,980. What will change will be the cancellation rules, penalties, and what will be included, or not, in the ticket net of the status held. So if you take the cheapest possible ticket, there will be no flexibility and you will have to pay to choose your seat.

Wanting to close my reservation, I remember that I am Senator thanks to the free Status Match still active for Volare customers, I will not have to pay for baggage and seat selection, even in Basic fare.
Some comparisons between before and now

This was the research I had done a couple of days before the blockade. Frankfurt/New York on January 17, 2026. Obviously the prices were fixed and started from the canonical 30k miles for the eco up to 91k miles for the First

Doing the same research today shows that prices have gone down for business, increased for economy, PE and first. At the level of taxes and surcharges, virtually nothing has changed. Note how with the dynamic pricing system it can cost more for PE than Business. The increase in the first class, on the other hand, is remarkable, but it is still less than I thought.

Changing destinations, under the previous tables flying from Munich to Shanghai had a fixed cost, identical for flying aboard both Lufthansa and Air China

In this case we see a price reduction in economy, and the same phenomenon with the more expensive PE of business class.

Third example with a flight from Frankfurt to Los Angeles, above is the old pricing.

With the new dynamic pricing, all flights cost more. A phenomenon then that we will have to get used to.
In conclusion
This is a very first analysis, but I can only say BRAVA Lufthansa, a change that if confirmed is not pejorative, on the contrary. Prices starting even lower, first class excluded, lots of availability on all routes I checked. Now I'm going back to study to see, if all that glitters is really gold. In any case, my advice now is to start accumulating on Miles&More because at these prices it is really top. If you are not a customer, I recommend that you apply immediately for the Miles&More Gold Mastercard And start getting the miles.
