Finnair is a popular airline used by Italian passengers, especially for flying over the long haul.
In this article:
The Plaza Premium Lounge at Helsinki Airport is located in the non-Schengen area i.e. after passport control, if you do not have oneWorld status, or are not traveling in business with the Finnish airline, this is the only lounge available in addition to the beautiful Finnair lounges.
Access
The Plaza Premium Lounge at Helsinki Airport is accessible to first and business class passengers of partner airlines, American Express Platinum and Centurion cardholders, and members of programs such as Priority Pass, DragonPass and LoungeKey.
Location
As mentioned we are just past the security check area, impossible to miss the signage indicating the location. The hall is located on the upper floor and is accessible either by elevator or via stairs.
In case of long layovers one thing to know is that capsules are also available here, for a fee, where you can take a nap, great if you arrive late and want to avoid wasting money at the hotel. You always have to go through the lounge reception for use.
The lounge
For the size of this airport and considering the number of destinations served not only by Finnair, but also by the other carriers that fly to this airport, I would have expected the lounge to be significantly larger. Certainly we are not at the levels of the one at T1 Fiumicino, but it is not huge.
Fortunately, when I passed by here. was not too crowded, although the best seats were all occupied. The decor of the lounge is modern there is a lot of light and it is very relaxing, like the whole airport.
As is well known to those who read my reviews, a view of the outdoors is one of the features I look for in a waiting room and which I believe is critical to improving the quality of the product.
In terms of facilities, in addition to the inevitable showers, there was a small family room.
Food&Beverage Plaza Premium Lounge Helsinki
Plaza Premium is a guarantee, worldwide, and even here in Finland it does not betray. Hot and cold offerings, not huge, but quality. Personally, I also liked the layout of the buffet area.
We are in northern Europe, so the bar counter is inevitable.
In addition to the free offering, there are also premium paid products, both as cocktails and spirits.
For everything else, there is the self-service island where you can help yourself to whatever you want.
In conclusion
Beautiful, relaxing and neat, but also weighing in here is the upbringing of Northerners compared to us Latinos. Well designed, bright and with a nice view of the runway. What more can I say, ah of course that American Express Platinum holders also get in free with a guest.
