For years I snubbed Marriott Bonvoy, simply I thought Hilton Honors and the Gold level was the perfect drop point for the average traveler, then when I opened TFC I realized that it is so, but not for those who travel a lot like me.

I am in Australia, at the Hilton in the middle of George Street, in the beating heart of the city's Central Business District. It's winter, It's raining outside, it's cold, and I have a flight at 8 p.m.. If I were in a Marriott, any Marriott, I would have no problem. Thanks to Platinum Bonvoy status (or higher) I would simply tell the front desk that I would use my late check-out at 4 p.m., perfect time to go to the airport.

Instead are in a Hilton hotel, and unfortunately late check-out, even for Diamond, is subject to availability and I would also add to the magnanimity of the hotel. Moral of the story today this Hilton is fully booked, that is, completely sold out, and the two people I asked to have a late check-out did their best in smiles and apologies, but I didn't get anything past 12 o'clock.

Even when I'm on vacation and not just when I'm out on business, knowing that I can use, at no extra charge, the room until 4 p.m. has become a real drug And I would very much like Hilton Honors would put a benefit like this in the Honors program.

Over the years, I have found hotels that to have a delayed room release they were also asking for 200$, for that if I can book with Fine Hotels&Resorts because among the benefits included in that reservation is late check-out guaranteed. Even in situations like these, with the hotel completely sold out for the next night, they couldn't say no to me.
