This is also great for us Italians since the direct flight from Milan to Vietnam's capital took off on the same day, and that could be a good reason to take advantage of the Vietnam Airlines' Status Match open to lots of Italian users.
New opportunities for frequent fliers
With this agreement, Etihad Guest adds to its network the routes offered by Vietnam Airlines to Southeast Asia, the Pacific and the Vietnamese domestic market. At the same time, customers Lotusmiles can use the miles to fly with Etihad to the Middle East, Europe and North America.
"We want to reward our members for every outstanding experience," said Mark Potter, Managing Director of Etihad Guest. "The agreement with Vietnam Airlines expands the available network and anticipates the launch of our new flight to Hanoi."
Nguyen Sy Thanh, who heads the Lotusmiles program, also commented on the importance of the collaboration, "An opportunity for our customers to discover new routes with world-class service. And an opportunity to bring Vietnam's image even closer to the rest of the world."

Etihad will connect Abu Dhabi to Hanoi from November 2, 2025, as part of the ambitious 2025 expansion plan that includes 16 new destinations. The connection with the Vietnamese capital represents a new strategic course, but also the beginning of a strengthening of relations between the two companies, following the Memorandum of Understanding signed last October.
For frequent flyers, the value of this partnership is not just in the miles: it opens up access to New lounges, cross upgrade possibilities and greater flexibility in travel planning between Asia, the Middle East and beyond.
