In view of theITA Airways' entry into Star Alliance, scheduled for the first half of 2026, Lufthansa continues to invest in the Italian market, with codeshare flights with the homegrown carrier.
In this article:
E from next October 26, the day that coincides with the start of Winter 2025-2026 will start connecting with aircraft from its fleet Munich and Milan Linate, thus returning to serve the Milan city airport from the Bavarian hub after a whopping 27 years (the last time was in 1998).

Since then, the German airline had used its 'Italian arm' Air Dolomiti to connect Munich with both Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate. Now, however, it has decided to replace the Verona-based airline's ERJ195s on Munich-Linate with its 'mainline' Airbus A320s, which provide 46 more seats on board (122 versus 168).
From Linate will take off to Munich twice a day, in the morning and evening: at 9:45 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. arriving in Bavaria at 10:50 a.m. and 8:40 p.m. by Airbus A320, respectively. From Munich, departure will be at 8 a.m. and 5:50 p.m., arriving at 9 a.m. and 6:50 p.m. respectively.
To Italian passengers, the two flights operated by Lufthansa in codeshare with ITA Airways will provide several connections with long-haul flights operated by the German airline from Franz Josef Strauss Airport: the one in the morning towards New York JFK (at 12:45 p.m.), Los Angeles (12.15), Miami (12.00), St. Paul's (12.05) e Tokyo Haneda (12.35). The one in the evening toward Shanghai (22.15), Bangkok (22.20), Singapore (22.20) e Hong Kong (22.45).
During Winter 2025-2026, the Linate-Munich will thus offer four daily frequencies: Lufthansa's two in addition to ITA Airways' two (in codeshare with LH and departing from the city airport at 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.).

Flights, on July 21, they did not yet appear in the booking system on Lufthansa's website, but (interestingly) were instead already on sale on ITA Airways' website, as well as on a multiplicity of platforms that can also be reached through Google Flights.
From Malpensa, however, there will be five daily flights: one operated by Lufthansa at 5:25 p.m., two by Air Dolomiti (at 6:10 a.m. and 1:20 p.m.), all in codeshare with ITA, as well as easyJet's two from Terminal 2 at the Varese airport, departing at 6:05 a.m. and 11:05 a.m.
