A member of our community has just received a nasty surprise via email.
In this article:
The hotel he had booked to spend an early 2026 in style he has just notified that it will no longer operate under the Hilton banner and that therefore his reservation will not be honored.

I have never been to this facility, but more than one TFC reader had visited it, especially as a destination for a special honeymoon.
A major loss for the Hilton Group in the Seychelles.

As we have explained many times hotels do not belong to the chains, they are simply affiliated with contracts and when they expire jersey changes can happen, at the moment it is unclear whether this Labriz Resort will join a new chain or operate independently, what is certain is that it will no longer be bookable via Hilton.
Unlike almost all Hilton hotels in the Seychelles (Hilton Northolme, LXR Mango House and DoubleTree and SLH), Labriz Resort is located on a large but completely uninhabited island apart from the hotel, which consists largely of a national park. Doing a search shows how the hotel is Sold Out as of January 1, 2026.
At this point if you want exclusivity you have to aim for the Waldorf Astoria Platte Island.
Booking canceled, vacation ruined

Unfortunately, in such cases, reservations, especially those with points, are cancelled. More rarely, the hotel honors reservations (cash) by guaranteeing the guest the booked service, but not the part related to benefits and points.
The T&Cs of the Hilton Honors loyalty program are clear, the chain does not guarantee anything in these cases except a refund of points and support in finding alternative accommodation, but without guaranteeing that you will be accommodated in a hotel in the group.

Of course asking the chain to find alternative accommodation is possible, but in situations as unique as the Seychelles where location is everything and the few hotels there may not be worth what you had booked, you don't have much choice but to change plans.
