I'm shocked: Starlink aboard airBaltic is CRAZY

There is only one European airline that offers Starlink connectivity on board its fleet and that is airBaltic.
In this article:
Latvia's national airline offers this service on some of its A220/300s, all those entering the fleet in 2025 and slowly those where it is installed.
Right now I am on board YL-ABX. a 5-month-old car that entered service at the end of January and has a special livery, dedicated to the nature of Latvia.

When snooping on Flighty I saw that it was a brand new A220/300 I thought, "go I'll try Starlink."
The service was activated in February 2025, one of the last public appearances of Martin Gauss the CEO who from nothing, or almost nothing, (re)invented this company, betting on the A220/300 before anyone else, when it was still called the C-series and was produced by Bombardier.
airbaltic & Starlink, project milestones

Getting to this milestone took no small amount of time.: the first announcement came in January 2023, even before Qatar and many other premium carriers, airBaltic had announced plans to install Elon Musk's antennas on its fleet.
Testing began in spring 2024 and as mentioned in February 2025 was activated with a special flight, just aboard this machine.
Starlink on board: a revolution

Impossible not to notice the presence of the service. Not only because there are headrests on all places that advertise it, but also because the crew repeats it at least 3 times in the early stages of the flight.
airBaltic offers seamless service on the ground as well as in the air, no need to register or do anything except locate the net and connect to wi-fi, like in a bar, with the only difference being that here you travel at 30 thousand feet and over 900km/h. All for free, with nothing in return.
Starlink on board airbaltic: the performance

A worthy download from high-performance fiber optics, a signal constancy that allowed me to upload photos of a flight review while making my first videocall aboard an airplane.
Before you start insulting me I should point out that lasted less than 60″ I was with Andrea And I made it just to test the service, not to make advice to a TFC reader.
In conclusion
Free service, for everyone, without any restrictions. You can go to youtube, you can watch netlfix, or upload/download whatever you want. I have no idea about the performance on the Qatar Airways' 777/300, but Doing a long haul on an airplane with this connectivity is really a major change For my work routine on board.
