6 reasons why you should apply (if you can) for Flying Blue match status

Throughout the month of July you can still apply for Flying Blue match status for all Italian residents in possession of a Miles&More card. In recent weeks I have received dozens of questions regarding the convenience, or otherwise, of this opportunity.

With this article I try to answer the most frequently asked questions and say what I think are the advantages of this status.

Status Match Flying Blue, things to know

Many people write to me "but do I have to pay? what's the point..." the point is that it has never been normal to have a MS without giving anything in return. There has always been a challenge, a target to reach In order to obtain/maintain the gifted status. However, when it comes to renewing the level possessed you only need the standard XP. This means that to rise to Platinum you need 580xp, to renew it you need only 300xp.

#3 The happy degrowth

One FUNDAMENTAL difference, at least in my opinion, is. The fact that the Flying Blue program does not reset your status if you fail to requalify the following year. You will not go from the stars to the stables, but you will go down one step per year. This means that if today you can apply for the Platinum level. through this Status Match offer. you will have the card until August 2026. Even without doing anything you will have gold for another 12 months and finally you will be silver for most of 2027. 36 months of benefits and privileges without ever having traveled Air France KLM, but with benefits on all Skyteam carriers even with basic economy tickets.

#4 If you have status the points don't expire

Having the status, any status, freezes the expiration of points. One reason then to apply for this status match might also be to shelter points from expiration. Since as long as one holds the status the expiration is frozen, it would mean extending the validity of the points held today by a minimum of 36 months.

This status match is not open to everyone, but it is definitely an opportunity that should be jumped at by those who have the ability to apply for it. As far as I am concerned, just the opportunity to have 12 months to be able to book La Premiere is worth the cost of the request.
