About airBaltic
Founded in 1995, airBaltic is now one of Northern Europe's most dynamic airlines, based in Riga, Latvia. It operates mainly from its hubs in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and-most recently-Tampere, offering connections to more than 70 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. The fleet consists entirely of modern Airbus A220-300, known for fuel efficiency, cabin comfort and reduced environmental footprint.

In recent years, airBaltic has been gaining more and more acclaim due to its fleet, modern in-flight services, and a strategy focused on growth and innovation-for example, it is the first European airline to offer the Free connectivity with Starlink on board
Italian routes
Italy is also part of the company's expansion strategy. During the 2025 summer season, airBaltic operates direct connections from Riga to Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino and Venice, with frequencies ranging from two to five flights per week depending on route and period.

In addition, seasonal connections to other Italian airports such as Naples and Verona are also active. These routes allow Italian passengers easy access to the Baltics, Scandinavia, and numerous other destinations served via convenient connections via Riga. There is, however, the minor flaw of wetlease that often flies Carpatair planes, or those of other carriers, Instead of the modern A220s.
The status match: how it works

To attract new customers among loyal travelers from other European airlines, airBaltic has activated a status match program Dedicated to elite status holders in:
- Finnair Plus (Gold, Platinum and Platinum Lumo)
- SAS EuroBonus (Gold, Diamond)
- Lufthansa Miles & More (Senator and HON Circle)
Those with any of these statuses can apply for the equivalent VIP level in the program airBaltic Club, valid for a whole year. The process is simple: just send via e-mail to [email protected] your airBaltic Club membership number, a copy of your valid loyalty card, and a bank statement showing your active status.
It is important to note that the offer is Valid only for members who have obtained status through actual flights, and not through promotions or other status matches.
The recognition of VIP status is not automatic: airBaltic reserves up to two weeks for verification of documents, after which the passenger will receive an e-mail confirmation. L'offer is valid only once in a lifetime for each account, so it pays to take advantage of it at a time when you plan to fly frequently with the company.
Why take advantage of it
Gaining VIP status in the airBaltic Club program gives you access to. exclusive benefits, including:
- two complimentary upgrades in business class
