For those seeking the most by spending the least and wants to squeeze every last point out of the KrisFlyer balance, the innovation launched by Scoot could be the key to reaching Asia at a truly competitive cost.
In this article:
Singapore Airlines low-cost carrier has introduced a fixed-mile award chart, which allows you to know immediately how many miles you need to fly, without the fluctuations of the old dynamic system anymore. This means that, in some cases, for just a few miles you can cover considerable distances and find yourself on the other side of the world.
What company is Scoot
Scoot, as mentioned is the low-cost company controlled at 100% by Singapore Airlines, it is not uncommon for Asian carriers to have their own subsidiary to preside over the low-cost segment. Qantas has it with Jestar, ANA and JAL have it with Air Japan and Zip Air respectively, A business model that has not worked in Europe despite various experiments by Air France, British and Lufthansa.
The quality of Singapore's service is also reflected in the no frills version, as for the umpteenth time again in 2025 the company won the award for best low-cost long-haul in the world at the Skytrax awards.

Scoot operates a young and growing fleet, consisting mainly of Boeing 787 Dreamliner for long-haul routes and Airbus A320/A321neo for regional connections. Dreamliners, configured in a spacious Economy and ScootPlus premium cabin, allow to the company to serve intercontinental destinations such as Athens, Vienna, Sydney and Tokyo, while the A320 and A321neo cover a dense network of routes in Southeast Asia and East Asia, connecting Singapore to cities such as Bangkok, Phuket, Bali, Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul. This is also joined by more exotic or less traveled destinations, a legacy of the SilkAir network, such as Koh Samui e Hangzhou, making Scoot an attractive choice for both short and medium to long-distance travel.
Scoot's new award chart
Singapore Airlines low-cost carrier has introduced a new fixed-mile award chart, which allows you to know right away how much the flight will "cost" in points, without the fluctuations of the old dynamic system anymore. This means that, in some cases, for just a few miles you can cover considerable distances and find yourself on the other side of the world.

For example, from Europe you can fly Vienna - Singapore round trip as of 48,000 miles, o Athens - Singapore one way from about 24,000 miles. Prices in points which, when compared with cash rates, can prove to be a real bargain, especially when cash rates go up. This is easily verified thanks to the new Miles Calculator, which in a few seconds shows the balance needed for the chosen route.
Once in Singapore, with the new award chart it becomes super easy to move throughout Southeast Asia at a very low cost in miles: 1.500 for Penang, 2.500 For Bangkok or Phuket, 4.500 for Bali or Lombok, up to 12.500 For Tokyo, Osaka or Seoul.
Obviously, the difference in service between Singapore Airlines and Scoot is significant: no included meals, entertainment or checked baggage (unless paid for), and randomly assigned seats. But if your goal is spend little and see a lot, traveling light and with a dash of adventurous spirit, this can be a great strategy for getting to and around Asia without draining the mileage account.

This is what a "maximize-mile" itinerary using the new Scoot option.
You may not have the comforts of Singapore Airlines, but your wallet (and mileage balance) will thank you: less than 60,000 miles gets you an almost two-week trip to Asia, leaving your "premium" miles for when you want to indulge in Business Class on intercontinental flights.

How to accumulate Krisflyer points in Italy
In a few months ITA Airways will be in the Star Alliance and therefore all flights will allow miles to be earned on the Singapore Airlines card. In addition to this there are several possibilities through shopping hotel stays and rentals, the booking events and excursions with Pelago and the use of specific apps, such as for restaurant reservations, and then the main function: Transfer points from Membership Rewards to SQ card.
