4 years of agony
In October 2021, with the establishment of ITA Airways and Volare, the program MilleMiglia had been orphaned by the airline.. The commissioners of first Alitalia, and then Trenitalia, ran the program over the years, A frequent flyer who, even without the company, produced profits And continued to attract users.
The divestment in 2024 to Trenitalia had opened to possible integrations with the CartaFRECCIA program, but it would appear that the initial ideas, at least the publicly stated ones, have not led to any real integration. The feeling that the sale to Trenitalia was a mere roundabout game however, is strong, since net of a few announcements and promotions-which paradoxically had opened up the possible triangulation of MyMiglia points to Volare - nothing else was seen.

Sure, some know-how the MyMiglia team may have brought to the CartaFRECCIA house, but no changes or new features are in sight yet, if not for the MOU with SkyTeam, which, however, the moment ITA turned to Star Alliance. Has had no further follow-up, almost two years later.
Volare also expires on Dec. 31

However, there is an incredible coincidence: not only MilleMiglia is set to disappear on December 31, Volare, the card that has taken its place in Italian travelers' wallets, also has the same expiration date. And, unlike what Trenitalia announced today, there is still no certainty about what will happen to points and status (and credit cards) of ITA Airways' loyalty.
In conclusion
January 1, 2026 will be a new beginning for all Italian FFs, no more Winged Arrows forever around airports and, likely, no more Executive Volare. We will all have to decide where to continue our collections, for better or worse.
