During 2026, ITA Airways passengers departing from thecairo international airport Will have to learn new paths.
In this article:
Today (August 2025) the Italian company departs from T2, while all carriers Star Alliance fly from T3. This is not a great inconvenience, since they are practically attached and are also connected in the sterile area.

The hostess is, of course, Egyptair, which also operates flights from T2 and therefore has lounges scattered a little bit everywhere. The strategy has been to have many lounges positioned around the terminal, rather than just one larger one.

The first thing to know is, through Senator (or Premium) status and/or business class ticket, you have access to the "golden path."

No queue at baggage check, less queue at check-in and fast time at immigration. Of course, we are in Egypt, so things have to be taken fluidly, but let's say that the air is definitely better in this terminal than in the other two.
Location

The terminal is shaped like a horseshoe and the lounges are strategically placed. There are some in each pier, which means that if the first one is full you have the option of moving to the others. Of course, if you leave from Pier G, maybe the lounge near Gate F1 is not quick to get to, but still better than nothing.
In total, as mentioned, there are 4. I visited 3: Gienah (pier G), Alioth (pier F), Almesian (F1).
Access

The rules are always the same. Business class ticket for any of the Star Alliance carriers.
I remind you that as of today ITA is not yet a member of this alliance, so even if you have Senator status you cannot join. Currently the lounge used by AZ is the AHLEIN Premium Lounge.
Guaranteed access even to tall passengers holding a Star Alliance Gold status. with a flight departing with a company from this alliance.
Lounges
As stated, are virtually identical. The Gienah and Alioth are positioned along the walkways leading to the gates, so they are long and narrow and run facing the airport grounds.
The most iconic (and prettiest) feature is undoubtedly the circular portholes that allow you to admire the movements on the runway: they give you the feeling of being on the deck of a ship, only outside there is desert and a few planes, not the sea and ships.

These two lounges are definitely the most crowded of all, partly because they are the first to be encountered on the way to the gate.

The furniture is mirrored, as is the layout, then through small structural differences different configurations of spaces are generated.

Slightly different, however, is the Almesian room, partly because being located in a wider area it is not long and narrow, but a small rectangular open space.
Food & Beverage

The catering here is also unique. It only changes where and how the buffet islands are placed.
The offer is comprehensive: there is both hot and cold offerings, local and non-local flavors, and even a small area for those with food intolerances, without considering that we are in a Muslim nation, so all products are Halal and no pork is served.

In contrast to the chaos outside, I must say that although two of the three lounges were very crowded, the environment was clean and neat, the buffet always replenished, and in the Almesian lounge there was even some sort of bartender who prepared hot drinks (free of charge) upon request.

Oh, I forgot: of course no alcohol is served. Egyptian company is not dry in flight, except for a few routes, but there is no sign of alcohol in the lounges.
In conclusion

Truly amazed at the quality of these rooms. Sure, there's nothing wow about it, but tidiness and cleanliness make any environment welcoming, and in this case even the courtesy of the staff amazed me.

Pro
- Neat and tidy
- Kind staff
Against
- Nothing to report
