When they say "when one pope dies, another pope is soon to be made," it really has to be said since the relationship between ITA Airways and Delta ended on September 1, and within a week, the union with United Airlines will be celebrated.

ITA Airways adds an important piece to its integration journey: September 8, 2025, the partnership with United Airlines will be triggered.
For MileagePlus members, it will be possible:
- Earn miles on all ITA flights (with different logic depending on whether the ticket is purchased on United or through other channels).
- Redeeming Awards on ITA Airways directly from the United site.
- Enjoying elite benefits: Premier Gold, Platinum and 1K holders will have access to ITA lounges when flying with the Italian airline.
If United's website has all the details, on the ITA website there is no mention of United's lounge access and status-related privileges.

Tickets bought on United.com. Mileage accumulation will be based on ticket price and MileagePlus status (5 to 11 miles per dollar).
Tickets issued by other carriers. Miles are calculated on distance and fare class (from a maximum of 200% for the highest business fares to 25% for super discounted economy).
Identical discourse at ITA Airways. Those traveling aboard United will accumulate points based on the distance traveled, and if you don't know how to calculate the points you will get, just go to Where to Credit. All flights issued with ticket code 016 (United) or 055 (ITA Airways), Volare Members accumulate points according to the table above, to which the multipliers of the Club they belong to should then be added: Plus +10%, Premium +20%, Executive +30%.
All flights made on United are qualifying and contribute to the attainment and/or renewal of the membership club.
