Going into more specifics, starting in May 2026, Italian passengers (and others) will have at their disposal More direct flights to Australia, thanks to theseason extension operation and increased weekly frequencies.

The first flight will take off, in fact, May 3 (instead of mid-June) while the last will be Oct. 22, thus covering well eight more weeks compared with the past. Not only that: between the June 28 and September 27, 2026, then, weekly flights will change from three to four thanks to the introduction of a new connection on Sundays.

The flight QF6 will take off from Rome-Fiumicino every Monday, Wednesday e Friday at 11:00 a.m. and will arrive in Perth at 8:45 a.m. the following day; on the reverse leg, the QF5 connection will depart from the Australian airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:35 p.m. and land at Rome's "Da Vinci" at 6:00 a.m. the following morning. As mentioned, then, between the June 28 and September 27, 2026 weekly flights will no longer be 3 but 4: flights QF5 and QF6 will also operate on Sundays.

The routes will be operated by 'Dreamliners,' Boeing 787s in the -9 variant. There are currently 14 such aircraft in the Australian carrier's fleet, and all are configured with 3 classes of service: business (42 seats), premium economy (28) and economy (166), for a total of 236 places.
After a 17-year absence, the direct flight between Italy and Australia was restored in June 2022. In the past three years, on the Rome-Perth route QF has carried over 70,000 passengers, confirming itself as a strategic link for those traveling between Europe and Oceania.
