From November 12, 2025 those flying with Ryanair must present themselves at the gate only with the digital boarding pass, generated by the app "myRyanair". Printing the boarding pass will no longer be possible: access to the flight will be through the smartphone only.
Why the postponement
The change was originally scheduled for November 3, but the company has decided to postpone it by a week. Official reason: to avoid the peak traffic period associated with bridges and vacations at the beginning of the month, so as to make the transition more manageable.
A transition that has already taken place in part
According to Ryanair, almost the80% of passengers already uses the digital format. In this sense, the move to 100% does not introduce a radical innovation, but formalizes a practice that is now widespread. It is a choice that follows what is already happening in other sectors, from concerts to sporting events, where paper tickets have been gradually abandoned.
Mandatory app
Starting Nov. 12, travelers will be required to use the company's app to obtain their boarding pass. Inside are some operational functions, such as flight status updates or notifications in case of changes.

The possible critical issues
The shift to digital makes gate control faster and reduces paper use, but it is not without risk. Those who are unfamiliar with smartphones and apps, or those who find themselves with a dead phone or no connection, may encounter difficulties when boarding.
One aspect to consider carefully is the travel abroad. Without an active data connection retrieving the boarding pass from the app can become complicated, especially if it was not saved in advance. Ryanair's app allows the offline consultation, but only after generating and downloading the card while still connected. For this reason do a screenshot of the boarding pass may seem like a boomer gesture, but it is actually a simple trick that can come in very handy in certain situations. The same goes for the low battery: arriving at the gate without a working smartphone means risking being stranded, forced to run in search of an outlet or powerbank at the last minute.
