In 2026 American Airlines will celebrate 100 years since its founding in 1926 as American Airways. The new "Flagship" livery marks the beginning of the celebration of this milestone, combining a reminder of history with a forward-looking vision for the company.

A design between the past and the future
The new color scheme combines tradition and modernity. The silvered base Silver Eagle, already on more than 1,600 aircraft in the main and regional fleet, is enhanced by the orange lightning running along the fuselage, inspired by the motif introduced nearly 90 years ago on the Douglas DC-3. Toward the tail appears a circular emblem with eagle, a reinterpretation of the historic symbol "the eagle connecting the world," to represent American Airlines' connection to its roots.

The new livery anticipates the Boeing 777-300 interior renovation program. The aircraft will introduce the Flagship Suite, with sliding doors, wireless charging, and reclining chaise seats; an updated Premium Economy with new headrests and charging points; and a Main Cabin equipped with 4K QLED screens, USB-C outlets, and AC power.
