In recent days we have published the news of the disappearance of credit cards co-branded by American Express for ITA Airways.
In this article:
A departure that had displaced everyone (cardholders and non-holders) the former worried that the cards in their wallets will be sterilized in their usefulness and the latter that they will lose the chance to triangulate in these months the status guaranteed with the Gold and Platinum cards toward Miles&More status thanks to the status match campaign valid until Dec. 31.
The official announcement from American Express

"ITA Airways American Express Cardholders can continue to use their Cards. In view of the conclusion of the Flying Program edition, scheduled for December 31, 2025, American Express has temporarily suspended the promotion of the Cards pending the updating of the program terms."
This is the official communication from American Express.

In its statement, Amex reassures current holders, but it is obvious that after December 31 they will have to change their card requirements. With two possible scenarios:
- Agreement with ITA Airways continues and then the cards issued switch from accumulating Flying points to Miles6More, needless to say. in which case these cards, parrcularly the Platinum could become the best co-branded cards in history. Keeping the current benefits, but expanding to the LH world.
- The agreement with ITA Airways ceases and thus the cards, as happened with old Alitalia cards stop earning miles e lose all the benefits associated with fast track, lounge access, guaranteed status and begin to accumulate Membership Rewards
In conclusion
American Express no longer pushes the new ITA Airways co-branded credit cards, at least not directly, but only through ITA's website are they still available for application.
