All inaugural flights departed at full capacity, confirming the strong demand for new routes and the soundness of the Abu Dhabi carrier's growth plan, but also that there are many still in the running for the mega challenge launched to push all new routes.
With these openings, Etihad reaches 31 new destinations announced in last 12 months, with Kabul departing in December and new routes to Damascus, Palma de Mallorca and Zanzibar planned for the first half of 2026.
"It has been an extraordinary week for Etihad," said CEO Antonoaldo Neves, "We bring four new cities to our global network, demonstrating our vision in action. The new flights show how investments in modern aircraft such as the A321LR enable us to grow quickly and efficiently, toward our goal of reaching more than 125 destinations by 2030."
The A321LR, the key to expansion
The introduction of theAirbus A321LR, the latest addition to Etihad's fleet, is the key element in this expansion phase. The single-aisle aircraft, with extended range and reduced fuel consumption, allows the company to open routes to emerging markets in Asia with the Right capacity and premium service standard.
The three new destinations in Southeast Asia-Medan, Phnom Penh and Krabi-are all operated with the A321LR, which introduces a three-class configuration, including the first first suite cabin on an Etihad narrowbody: private spaces with sliding door, fully horizontal bed, and designer finishes typical of long-haul flights.
The aircraft also offers the experience First Deluxe, with dedicated concierge, chauffeur service and personalized airport assistance.
Waiting for the debut on Milan

Waiting for the launch of the route to Milan, the plane has already made a detour to Malpensa, but from November it will be a regular guest on one of the 3 daily rotations between Malpensa and the UAE capital, the A321LR is proving to be Etihad's trump card: an agile and versatile aircraft, perfect for strengthening the network while awaiting the arrival of the new widebodies and for presiding over strategic markets with a high-end product.
The "Extraordinary Challenge" for frequent flyers.

All new destinations are part of the Etihad Extraordinary Challenge, the initiative that invites Etihad Guest members to visit 5, 10 or 15 new destinations to win up to 5 million miles. The challenge is open until May 25, 2026, but there are 3 contenders who are ready to pocket the richest prizes, leaving other users with only consolation prizes.
