Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France and KLM, in early 2025 was the first to launch a campaign of status match in the British market.
In this article:
A move designed to intercept the many disgruntled users for changes to British Airways' loyalty program, renamed simply Club. Close behind had also come the Lufthansa campaigns e even of easyjet.

I, too, fall into the group of those who have decided to abandon the FF of British, As I explained recently, precisely because of these new rules.
The numbers of the campaign
No challenge to complete, but only an economic transaction with a cost starting from £99.

The initiative, FB explains in a note Has been a success far beyond expectations and for that, for the first time in my memory, they released the campaign numbers.
-
Over 4,000 BA clients Have obtained match status in the first three months
-
The 95% of new members has achieved the status Flying Blue Gold or higher
-
By the end of August, this group had generated 17,500 flight reservations. About 60% flew at least once with Air France or KLM, with an average of 7 flights each
-
Revenues are driven by the premium segment: approx. the 60% of turnover Has arrived from Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class (La Première) cabins.
Ben Lipsey Speaks
Benjamin Lipsey, SVP Customer Loyalty - President Flying Blue of the Air France-KLM group, commented:
"The strong take-up of our status match offer in the UK highlights Flying Blue's ability to adapt quickly and deliver real benefits to frequent travelers. We are delighted to welcome so many new members who are choosing to fly with us-especially in premium cabins-as they explore the world with Air France, KLM and our partners."
My considerations

I have no idea whether 4,000 is a large number or not, What is certain is that I know at least two users who took advantage of the match to jump from explorer, the basic level, to Platinum and Ultimate (for a time this card was also granted) just to be able to travel in La Premiere with points.
If we then consider precisely that the status is valid all over the world, I would not be surprised if it emerged that few users have made many Air France KLM flights and many others only flights with Skyteam carriers.
Now all we have to do is wait the numbers of the Italian campaign That has just begun.
