Bologna was the First Italian city to welcome Concorde: the April 18, 1987.
Here's how the VolaBologna website remembers that event
"The Modenese ceramics company Stilgres chartered Air France's Concorde for ninety-nine passengers, who an hour and a half later would be having dinner at Maxim's in Paris. It was an incredible event capable of stopping an entire city, all with their noses turned up to see the supersonic jet. Not just ordinary fans, but thousands of curious people flocked to the terrace and all around the perimeter of the airport. Even the ring road was stormed for this event. It was such a successful event that a few months later, the same ceramic company did an encore, again from Bologna, but this time it took passengers to New York."
Today the course is served with theAirbus A220, the most modern aircraft in the transalpine short- to medium-haul fleet.
