Following agreements made in recent months with Delta Air Lines, Air France e KLM, Aeroitalia continues its march toward an ever-widening network of alliances. The Italian carrier, which in medium-term plans is expected to transform into Air Italy, signed an understanding of Interline and Special Prorate with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and one of the world's leading airlines.
A bridge between Italy and the Middle East

The agreement will allow passengers to book a single ticket combining flights from Aeroitalia with those of Etihad Airways, directly from the sales channels of the Emirates carrier. Those flying from Abu Dhabi will thus be able to achieve with a single reservation and coordinated connections the main destinations served in Italy by Aeroitalia - Catania, Palermo, Comiso, Cagliari and Olbia - transiting from the hubs of Rome Fiumicino e Milan Malpensa.

For Etihad the arrangement strengthens its presence in the Italian market and expands the supply base of its flights, while for Aeroitalia represents another step in building a robust and interconnected international network, with direct benefits for travelers through smoother connections and reduced transit times.

Another piece, yes, but a heavy one: because tying up with Etihad means entering the map of the big boys. Aeroitalia-or rather, the future Air Italy-begins to move like a company that wants to stay, not just try.
